This blog introduces the breeding and child-rearing struggle of little grebes that bred in Inokashira Park Tokyo Japan in 2018.
The chicks who had been observing the previous year were wiped out. Let's see the whole story until the chicks grow up well this year! I started writing this blog.
The number of chicks has decreased to two. On July 2, Nanai Bridge
I wasn't able to update it as I expected, and it's gradually being delayed.
I will update it somehow.

What happened to the Nanai Bridge family after that?
On the morning of July 2, the Nanai Bridge family was at the foot of the Ochanomizu Bridge.
Only 2 of the 4 chicks can be found.
According to a person who was observing the little grebe, there were three birds an hour ago, so it seems that someone had killed them during that time.
What was the parent bird doing during that time?
The parent bird is more cautious than usual, regardless of the disappeared chicks.
Is it a foreign enemy?
I'm listening carefully with a long neck in the distance.
Looking beyond the line of sight, it seems that the packed partner is watching the invading little grebe so that it does not enter the territory.
A partner who is wary of the area, probably a male
I'm watching the intruder go out.
It seems that a fierce battle was fought between the intruder and the two birds.
Intruder, Nanai Bridge's family seems to have something to complain about
The top is probably an intruder, Little Grebe, who used to raise children behind the Aquatic Life House.
(I heard later that the children of the Aquatic Life House had been killed by their parents at Nanai Bridge. It seems to have something to do with that.)
Perhaps the aim is "Little Grebe's Parenting 2018" 25, Temptation, but as I mentioned, it may be a fight over the female of Nanai Bridge rather than territory.
The relationship with the neighbors of the little grebe also seems to be quite complicated.
The intruder went through the bridge as if nothing had happened, maintaining dignity.
The family of Nanai Bridge has driven away the intruder.
However, it is possible that this caused the chicks to lose their eyes and one chick was killed.
The intruder's partner, I was with the intruder near the boat landing earlier, but I can't find it.
Did I leave my partner and go somewhere?
The couple and the chicks at the Aquatic Life House were all killed, and the couple probably didn't go very well.
It seems that they have fallen apart.
The parent birds that raise the chicks safely are usually on good terms, and the siblings also seem to be on good terms.
Something seems to apply to humans as well.
July 8th
Nanai Bridge family, two chicks are raised safely, July 8
A few days later, the two chicks seem to be growing up safely.
On the front side of the pond, two little grebes are close to each other and are swimming while catching food such as dragonflies.
No courtship feeding was seen, but they seem to be aware of each other.
What is the parent bird with children? That companion?
What does that mean?
Did the little grebe of the neighbor who was approaching and the little grebe of Nanaibashi have been made?
And at the end of taking the picture above, I haven't seen these two chicks.
I hope I'm growing up safely somewhere.
Is it a new couple that swims with each other? July 11
I can't find any chicks around here.
The packs are just swimming together.
Where have the chicks gone?
It may reappear in a few days, so I still have expectations of being alive.
The photo above, a couple of seemingly smiling little grebes.
If the caretaker's observation is correct,
Behind the scenes, five chicks are sacrificed on one side and four on the other, for a total of nine chicks.
With that in mind, it's a bit complicated.
