Even if I twist the key after replacing the starter motor (repair of the starter motor) and solenoid that I mentioned in my blog before, it doesn't respond for a while, so the contact is bad.
I removed the starter motor from the car several times, polished the contacts with paper, and replaced them with old contacts, but the symptoms did not improve much.
It is not good and dangerous because it is the place where the largest current flows.
With only 12 volts, it cranks and starts a huge 1HZ engine, so a thick cable goes straight from the battery to the starter motor.
A considerable amount of current will flow at the moment of start.
The starter motor at the bottom left of the engine will be removed and work will begin. The old Land Cruiser can be easily removed.
A long time ago, as a child playing with RC cars, I would like to apply Tamiya and contact grease to such places.
How effective is it?
Expectations swell even before actually applying it to the contacts.
By the way, I searched for the equivalent of contact grease in Kenya in parts shops, hardware shops, etc. in Nairobi, but the manager could not find the equivalent.
All I found was a spray that washes away dirt from the contacts.
So, as soon as I returned to Japan, I bought Tamiya contact grease at a certain mass retailer in Shinjuku and put it in my suitcase so that I wouldn't forget it.

I also bought a Tamiya screw stopper.
When I returned to Kenya, the battery that had been left with my car went down.
Remove the battery, charge slowly at 3 amps in the house, and absorb about 70% of the original capacity in 24 hours.
After a while, it exceeded 14.2 volts, and when I couldn't eat much more electricity, I heard the voice of the battery and the charge was completed.
This battery seems to work hard for a while.
I put the battery back in the car and twisted the starter key, despite the improbable expectation that "Is the contact condition better?", But the symptom remains the same.
The engine starts, but the contact is bad and the reaction is bad as before.
I had been riding it for a while, but just about a month ago I removed the starter motor and decided to apply the contact grease I bought.
When I opened the switch part of the starter motor, as expected, it was black.
Due to poor contact, heat is generated and it is scorched.
It is a vicious cycle in which soot is attached and contact is poor.
If you look inside the starter motor, you can see that it had burnt marks, poor contact, and heat.
I've been cleaning the contacts several times so far, but the poor contact hasn't improved.
After polishing the contacts with paper, clean them with benzine and ethanol.
Until now, it was pumped back, but this time I will finish by applying the contact grease brought from Japan at the end.
Polish the contacts appropriately and finish with contact grease at the end.
Return the pumped starter motor to the car and check that all the bolts, nuts and cables are firmly returned to their original positions and fixed.
The battery terminal is replaced and ready to twist the key.
What is the result?
When I twisted the key, the engine started powerfully with no time lag and no sparks (sound).
It is a big difference from the fact that it used to have poor contact, poor reaction, and only weak rotation.
After the work, it seems that the current is flowing at once on the surface.
It seems unlikely that the contacts will burn with heat.
The effect exceeds expectations!
By the way, I decided to apply it to the horn and the relay of the headlight, which had become unresponsive.
It's been a month since I applied the contact grease, but the effect is still continuing.
(As for the contact points, there were no problems in 2020, two years later, and it was very good!)
Tamiya contact grease is a must-have item for those who play with the car a little.
