This blog introduces the life of a goshawk, a wild drama that unfolded in front of the caretaker in an urban park Tokyo Japan from July 2017 to December 2018.
Female with plenty of fat in her body to prepare for breeding, December 2017
Goshawks will continue, but I hope to move forward with momentum.
This is a continuation of the previous blog of "Goshawk, a bird of prey that has advanced into the city" 6.

The breeding season is still a long way off, and during December, males and females in the surrounding area, mainly in the park, spent elegant days before breeding.
Occasionally, there were days when I didn't come back to the park.
It seems that the females are even fatter, probably because the males are feeding them.
It probably stores enough fat for breeding.
A goshawk appears on a nest in one of the candidate breeding sites in the early morning on January 2nd.
For the last few days of the year, I couldn't see goshawks in the park, so I wonder if I found another breeding place somewhere else. I thought.
On January 2nd, just after the new year, there was a male figure in the nest, which was one of the candidate sites until the end, in the dark time before sunrise.
It seems that she is looking for a female from the top of the nest.
I've been calling a female many times, but I didn't get a reply, where did I go?
Male who keeps calling female, no reply
It took 30 minutes to call a scalpel, and the sun and climbing became brighter.
I waited for a female reply here for more than 30 minutes, but in the end there was no female reply.
The female seems to be far away, so I searched for the female on the tree and in a place with a good view, but I could not find the female.
A male who relentlessly searches for a female, there seems to be some important consultation with the female.
I'm sure it's about the location of the nest used for breeding.
We can't talk about breeding without a female.
For the time being, the male went to the nesting site of the first candidate site.
Nest location of the first candidate site
The nest used for breeding last year should be good here.
After all it seems that this is a good place to breed! But···
This place, a large cedar tree, overgrown with branches and leaves, and tall, seems to be much better for breeding. Even if a few chicks grow up, they can handle it.
However, nesting cannot be started without the confirmation of the female.
"Where did the female go?"
She gets angry if she starts nesting without the consent of the female.
"Let's give up today."
And that day the male went somewhere.
It is a record of January 2, 2018.
